Harnessing the potential of the Pasteur Network to investigate vector-borne diseases
France 2030 Research Program (PEPR) PREZODE, launched in February 2023, aims to support interdisciplinary fundamental research projects that seek to better understand the links between human activities, global changes, and the mechanisms of zoonotic disease emergence.
he AMAZED project, coordinated by the Institut Pasteur de la Guyane, brings together the Institut Pasteur and three members of the Pasteur Network in France's overseas territories (French Guiana, Guadeloupe and New Caledonia), together with external partners.
Five units of the Institut Pasteur Paris are involved in this project:
DHEILLY Nolwenn (Pathogen Discovery)
FAILLOUX-MANUELLAN Anna-Bella (Research and Expertise Unit on Arboviruses and Insect Vectors)
MANUGUERRA Jean-Claude (Research and Expertise Unit on Environment and Infectious Risks)
MONOT Marc (Biomics Technology Platform)
SALEH Maria Carla (Unit of Molecular Parasitology and Signaling)
AMAZED is a multidisciplinary project to study the mechanisms behind the emergence of arboviruses, in other words pathogens transmitted by insect vectors. The project recently received funding of 2.5 million euros as part of the ‘France 2030’ national initiative. This is a major contribution by the French government to prepare the country for a possible major health crisis, in connection with its strategy to accelerate the response to Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID), as part of the ‘health innovation’ component of the France 2030 Investment Plan.
