In the end of November 2024, the Grants Office participated in the 5th annual retreat of the STAPA association of Young Researchers of the Institut Pasteur. The retreat was organized for the first time in the frame of the Pasteur Network and proved to be a resounding success, bringing together young researchers from the Institut Pasteur Paris and the Stephan Angeloff Institute of Microbiology in Sofia, Bulgaria. Young scientists (PhD students and postdoctoral fellows) had a great opportunity to present their results and exchange on their scientific ideas in order to refine their communication skills, receive constructive critiques, and foster collaborations across disciplines. From innovative methodologies to groundbreaking discoveries, the diversity of topics highlighted the remarkable talent and ambition of our young scientists.
The Grant Writer from the IP Paris Grants Office was invited to this retreat as a guest speaker to present a grant writing workshop. The grant writing presentation was designed to empower participants with the tools and strategies needed to secure competitive funding. Topics included crafting compelling narratives, aligning with funding priorities, and presenting clear, impactful proposals.
We believe that participants left the retreat with a clearer understanding of the grant writing process and with actionable advice to enhance their proposals. The abstract presentations not only strengthened their ability to communicate research effectively, but also sparked discussions that could lead to future partnerships.
The participation of the Grants Office in this retreat reinforced our commitment to supporting researchers at every stage of their careers. By combining skill-building workshops with opportunities for intellectual exchange, we aim to equip our scientists with the tools needed to excel in their fields.
We thank all participants, facilitators, and organizers for making this event a remarkable success. We look forward to seeing the impact of these efforts in upcoming grant submissions and collaborative projects!
