Finding funding opportunities and securing grants can be challenging for young researchers. Here, we present two funding options oriented to early career researchers:
"Young Researchers Instrument (JCJC)” by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche – ANR
Budget: not specified but typically ~100K€/year
Duration: 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54 or 60 months
Next deadline: ~October 2024 for pre-proposal, ~March 2025 for full proposal
Even though the call might change from one year to the next, you can get a first idea from the call text and guidelines of last year here and here.
“Starting Grant” by the European Research Council – ERC
Budget: 1.5M€
Duration: 60 months
Next deadline: October 15th 2024 for the proposal, May-June 2025 for the interview
More info here.
The Grants Office organizes a webinar or round table discussion on these fundings every year, and it provides young researchers with grant writing support for ANR-JCJC and ERC-StG. If you are interested in applying, please contact GOnational@pasteur.fr (for JCJC) or GOeurope@pasteur.fr (for ERC).
Note that these grants cannot be combined with each other or with other similar funding (e.g. amorçage d’équipe of FRM, ATIP-Avenir of CNRS-INSERM).
For more info and updates, keep an eye on Grant Finder and/or the monthly calendars of the Grants Office.
