Last December, the Institut Pasteur d’Algérie invited the Grants Office of the Institut Pasteur (Paris) to conduct a training seminar entitled “Grants Management: How to find funding for your research projects.” The event took place from December 2nd to December 5th, 2024 at the Institut Pasteur d'Algérie in Sidi Fredj, Algiers. Twenty-five researchers—comprising biologists, physicians, pharmacists, veterinarians and doctoral students—from the Institut Pasteur d’Algérie and other research centers in Algeria attended this seminar, which was designed to provide insights into unlocking funding opportunities for health research projects in Algeria. The training was reported by the Institut Pasteur d'Algérie (article in French here).

The training featured a series of informative sessions, ranging from defining a research grant to designing a proposal in response to funding opportunities that align with the expectations of potential funding agencies. After discussing participants’ needs and ideas, our experts addressed a wide range of topics to support their future grant applications, including identifying suitable funding opportunities and providing practical tools and tips for writing successful proposals.

This four-day session provided researchers with the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, seek advice, and find inspiration for future grant applications. We extend our gratitude to the Institut Pasteur d’Algérie for hosting our grant design experts, as well as to all the researchers who participated. Their active involvement and enthusiasm were key to the seminar's success.

We believe that such training and exchanges are vital for fostering a dynamic and collaborative ecosystem for scientific progress within the Pasteur Network.
