We are pleased to announce that 54 projects involving Institut Pasteur researchers were funded in the 2026 edition of the French National Research Agency generic call for proposals (ANR AAPG). This call remains one of the most important national funding opportunities for the researchers on our campus, and this year’s results once again reflect the strength and quality of the research carried out at Institut Pasteur.

We take this opportunity to remind all applicants of the important changes coming into effect for the 2027 edition. I you haven’t already, we strongly encourage you to review these changes carefully and to reach out to the Grant Office with any questions.

Preliminary results - AAPG 2026

In total, 54 projects were funded. These results are preliminary, as results for international collaborative research (PRCI) are still pending and will be communicated in the coming months.

Here are details per instrument:

We warmly congratulate all researchers whose projects were selected.

Major changes in AAPG 2027

The 2027 call introduces several important changes aimed at better connecting national funding with European funding programs like Horizon Europe.

Please pay particular attention to the following points:

  • Collaborative Research Projects (PRC): For multi-partner research projects, the composition rules have been tightened. Every consortium must now include at least one of the following: an early-career researcher (within 10years after PhD) leading a partner team, an international partner, or a partner from the socio-economic sector (industry, NGO, public institution, etc.).

  • Single-Team Projects (PRME): Principal investigators applying for single-team research grants will now be asked to commit to submitting a European funding application afterward, either to the European Research Council (ERC) or to a Horizon Europe collaborative project. This reflects the national agency's broader strategy of using its own funding instruments as a springboard toward European opportunities.

  • Introduction of TRL and SRL indicators: Two new indicators will be requested when submitting applications: a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and a Societal Readiness Level (SRL). These measure how close a project is to practical application or societal impact. Importantly, these indicators will not be used to evaluate proposals; they are introduced solely to familiarize the research community with concepts widely used in European calls, in preparation for future Horizon Europe applications. This does not change the fundamental nature or evaluation criteria of the call.

New participation rules

  • Each researcher may now be involved in a maximum of two applications in the 2027 call (down from three).

  • A two-year cooling-off period will now apply between two successive coordinations of the same type of project by the same researcher.

Our recommendation

We strongly encourage all applicants to read the official 2027 call text in full before preparing their application (Link) and to reach out to the Grants Office as early as possible with any questions. Our team is here to help you navigate these new rules and answer your questions. Please contact us GOnational@pasteur.fr.
