More than 10 years ago, in the context of the Programe d’Investisments d’Avenir (PIA), the LabEx program was launched. Three of those huge projects were awarded to consortia coordinated by Institut Pasteur:

  • Revive: research consortia of fundamental and applied stem cell researchers. Coordinated by Shahragim Tajbakhsh and François Schweisguth.

  • IBEID: research consortia based on emerging infectious diseases. Coordinated by Philippe Bastin and Carla Saleh

  • Milieu Intérieur: research consortia structured around the question of human variability in immune response. Coordinated by Lluis Quintana-Murci and Darragh Duffy

These 3 projects have funded training in the shape of workshops, MOOCs, or Master courses. They have awarded numerous fellowships to PhD students and postdocs, animated frequent scientific meetings and greatly contributed to the development of new tools for the scientific community, as well as aiding technology transfer through different schemes. They have hence served as a structuring backbone for research in France, each one in its corresponding topic.

The three LabEx programs were meant to end in December 2024. Yet, thanks to their success, they have been granted a 3-year extension until December 2027. This is a recognition of the excellent work done by these three consortia coordinated by Institut Pasteur. We want to congratulate all the researchers involved in these consortia and their coordinators. Bravo!
